BLOOD TESTS

Please ensure your blood tests are done 1 week before your operation.

IMAGING

Jarome will organise any preoperative imaging where required.

For hip replacement surgery, Jarome will request a templating pelvic film to plan your surgery. A standard pelvic X-ray with no calibration disc will not suffice.

For robotic knees replacements, the CT MAKO scan must be completed at least 1 week before surgery. This gives the Mako Product Specialist (MPS) the required time to segment and plan the case.

For navigated knee replacements, a weight bearing X-ray no older than 6 months is required.

INFECTION / ILLNESS

If you have a fever or are unwell prior to surgery, it is recommended to postpone your surgery. Please inform us if this is the case.

SMOKING

Please refrain from smoking cigarettes prior to your surgery. The earlier the better. Smoking is detrimental to your health and prevents bone, tendon, ligaments and wounds from healing. It also increases your risk of postoperative infection.

SKIN PREPERATION

Please use the Chlorhexidine wipes provided on the area to be operated 48 hours before surgery

HAIR REMOVAL

Please shave the operated area greater than 48 hours prior to surgery being careful not to breach the skin

JEWELLERY / NAIL POLISH

Please avoid wearing jewellery and any rings or bracelets. The latter can potentially be hazardous and may need to be cut off. Do not wear nail polish as this interferes with the function of the oxygen monitors.
